Job Summary
This is a two year limited term position and is funded from external sources. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
The individual in this position will support a multi-state grant project focused on breeding for intercropping systems. The person is expected to take a leadership role in a project involving Oat-Pea intercropping. In addition, he/she will be expected to pursue independent avenues of research and may develop their own projects, within the scope of the lab's mission.
Essential Functions
Essential Functions include the following:
- Develop or assist in the development of complex project proposals, plans, and protocols.
- Conduct non-routine experiments, investigations and/or studies related to programs and projects in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques and concepts.
- Coordinate or assists logistics of research to include equipment, materials, and labor needs.
- Collect data/samples related to others' research and in complex cases.
- Record, compiles, process and analyze data/samples.
- Documents results and observations in writing as well as presenting results to others.
- Expected to publish peer-reviewed research articles and to present at conferences.
- Supervise undergraduate research assistant schedules and activities.
- May instruct/advise graduate students and/or supervise others' research in area of expertise.
- May maintain project budgets and/or coordinate funding.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Breeding, or closely related field at the time employment begins. No experience required.
Minimum Skills and Abilities
Must have a demonstrated ability to collect, organize, and analyze data, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.
Minimum Technology Skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Office
Salary Range: $41,000 - $61,500
