JOB TITLE:
Research Associate II - SAREC R&E Center
JOB PURPOSE:
Provide research services by independently designing and conducting
a wide range of experiments, recording data, and preparing
documentation requiring expertise in the application and adaptation
of numerous research techniques and procedures.
This position has been deemed essential as addressed in the
University of Wyoming's Employee Handbook.
Employees in essential positions may be required to work during
emergency closures and winter closures based on the nature of their
job duties and the reasons for the closure.
This position is grant funded and considered at-will
employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates research projects conducted at SAREC and
surrounding sites, communicates directly with campus based research
personnel.
- Assists with livestock feeding projects and livestock research
at SAREC, assisting with daily feeding, record-keeping, monitoring
of animals and overseeing research projects and feeding
studies.
- Communicates daily with SAREC director, farm manager and
business manager to support research at SAREC.
- Manages research equipment at SAREC, including troubleshooting,
maintenance, repair, calibration and operation of plot
equipment.
- Assists with planting, data collection and harvesting of
research plots at SAREC .
- Summarizes research and participates in field day and extension
programming activities.
- Ability to operate current farming equipment.
- Computer literacy is essential, regularly use email, word
processing, spreadsheets to facilitate research objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree
Experience:
Two years of agriculture-related work experience
such as crop and/or livestock experience
Required licensure, certification, registration or other
requirements:
- Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR)
compliant with the Driving for University Business
SAP.
- Pesticide applicator's license or willingness to
obtain.
- Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification or willingness to
obtain.
Experience Evaluation
Minimum experience requirements are evaluated on a full-time
equivalent (FTE) basis. Relevant part-time experience will be
prorated based on hours worked. For example, two years working an
average of 20 hours per week is equivalent to approximately one
year of full-time experience.
Applicants must include the average hours worked per week for all
current and previous positions. Failure to provide this information
may affect the evaluation of qualifications.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture related field preferred
