Research Associate in Acoustic Processing of Materials - Multiphysics Modelling
Join us and be part of a vibrant community at Loughborough University.
Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for:
We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist, Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineer with experience in Multiphysics modelling. Experience with multi-physics modelling systems is essential and experience with COMSOL is desirable. The project involves the simulation, design and digital validation of experimental rigs used for the processing of materials with ultrasound energy and potentially other energy vectors (heat, EM fields etc.), thereby utilizing in concert such modelling vectors as thermal, acoustic, EM and reaction solvers. Some specialisation in vibration, acoustics/ultrasonics is desirable.
Candidates are expected to have previous experience in designing small-scale experimental rigs in a laboratory setting.
Key Requirements:
The candidate needs to have extensive experience in:
- deriving protocols for digital design and simulation;
- designing and creating simulations with multiple coupled physics/chemistry vectors (such as acoustics, thermal, reaction kinetics etc.);
- creating simulations for digital (in silico) validation of experimental results;
- experience of utilising a modelling framework such as COMSOL;
- gathering simulation results and presenting data as part of regular reviews;
- demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Informal enquiries should be directed to Prof Paul P Conway, by email at p.p.conway@lboro.ac.uk or by telephone on +44 (0) 1509 227 505.
