Position Overview
Lund University seeks up to three project assistants for a long-term population study of insects (damselflies) conducted since 2000. The position involves fieldwork, laboratory work, and data management as part of the research group “Population Biology, Micro- and Macroevolution,” led by Professor Erik Svensson.
Responsibilities
- Conduct fieldwork at Stensoffa Ecological Field Station and localities to estimate population densities, colour morph frequencies, and mark individuals for mark-recapture studies.
- Lead and participate in field experiments.
- Collect, classify, and record phenotypic and morphometric data.
- Collect specimens for molecular analysis (DNA sequencing).
- Support student supervision and administrative/logistical tasks related to fieldwork.
Qualifications
Required:
- University education in ecology, evolution, or conservation biology.
- Experience with fieldwork involving insects.
- Basic knowledge of insects, identification, and capture.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Good command of English (written and spoken).
- Valid Swedish driver’s license.
Desirable / Additional Merits:
- Master’s degree in biology.
- Broad biological experience, ideally with insect fieldwork.
- Leadership and supervisory skills.
- Administrative experience and strong digital/computer skills.
- Excellent communication and cooperation skills.
Terms & Conditions
- Fixed-term seasonal employment (May – September 2026).
