The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, invites applications for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment is initially for one (1) year, with continuation and renewal based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (up to a maximum of three years).

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated expertise in:

• RNA extraction and RNA library preparation (RNA-seq, CLIP-seq, MeRIP, ribosome profiling)
• Cloning, expression, and protein purification
• Biochemistry experiments, including protein activity assays, protein–RNA binding affinity determination, and kinetics

Responsibilities

• Drive research projects involving RNA extraction and RNA library preparation.
• Conduct cloning, expression, and protein purification experiments.
• Perform biochemistry experiments, including protein activity assays and protein–RNA interaction studies.
• Develop collaborative and independent research programs related to RNA biology.
• Co-supervise students and research staff.
• Coordinate NIH-funded grant efforts with local, national, and international collaborators.
• Contribute to grant preparation, progress reports, and manuscript writing.
