About the Role
The Coyte Lab within the Division of Evolution, Infection & Genomics invites applications for a Research Associate to join an exciting project investigating the dynamics and function of carbon-fixing microbial communities in Icelandic volcanic hot springs.
This research forms part of a 5-year sLoLa project funded by the BBSRC, involving a multi-disciplinary consortium of environmental microbiologists, ecologists, evolutionary biologists, computational modellers, and synthetic biologists.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading mathematical modelling and bioinformatic analyses of microbial community data
- Conducting lab experiments to explore microbial community dynamics, including community coalescence
- Collaborating with a dynamic lab group and the MERMan research cluster of over 100 researchers in microbial ecology and evolution
- Contributing to publications, presentations, and grant outputs
The postholder will have access to state-of-the-art laboratory and computational facilities and opportunities for collaborative, interdisciplinary research.
