Research Associate in Ophthalmology

Description

The Department of Ophthalmology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree.

Responsibilities may include Conducting research on disease modeling and therapy development for age-related macular degeneration. Differentiate induced pluripotent stem cells into retinal pigment epithelial cells to study the transcriptome, proteome, and lipidome under oxidative stress conductions. Study mouse models of AMD and post-mortem human eyes.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to Write manuscripts to be published in peer-reviewed journals. Participate and present in scientific meetings and conferences, laboratory and department meetings. Prepare grant proposals.
