The opportunity
This Research Associate position contributes to the SELECT project, funded by the European Research Council (ERC), and based within the Institute for Imaging, Data and Communications at the University of Edinburgh. This role is part of an internationally collaborative effort involving multiple partner institutions.
The successful candidate will work on developing perceptive soft robotic systems, focusing on sensing, control, and integration. You will contribute to cutting-edge research in soft robotics, including flexible sensor technologies and robotic control in deformable systems.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the interface of materials science, robotics, and control engineering within one of the UK’s top engineering schools.
Your skills and attributes for success
Essential:
- A PhD in Electronics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Proven track record in robotics, particularly in soft robotics
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in flexible sensor fabrication
- Experience with control systems for soft robotic platforms
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
