Research Associate in Raman Spectroscopy of Graphene and Related Materials
We are looking for a Research Associate to work in the Cambridge Graphene Centre on Raman Spectroscopy of Graphene and Related Materials, within the Graphene and Quantum Flagships.
The aim is to perform Raman spectroscopy investigations of samples ranging from amorphous carbon to graphene and layered materials and hybrid systems, including plasmonic systems, working down to ultra-low and high frequencies, with multiple laser lines from IR to UV, with low and high temperature and magnetic field. The role holder will be expected to provide a full data analysis and interpretation, using a variety of analytical and computational tools, including group theory and density functional theory.
The successful candidate will have:
- A PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Nanotechnology, or Material Science with a proven track record on optical physics and spectroscopy of graphene and related materials.
- Proven expertise in building or working with custom-made optical setups, as well as a strong understanding of the optical properties of layered materials is required.
- Proven expertise in Raman spectroscopy (experiment and theory) of graphene and layered materials is mandatory.
- Experience in handing collaborations within EU projects, including reporting and attendance to frequent project meetings is essential.
- The candidate will also have the ability continually update knowledge in the specialist area and engage in continuous professional development.
- Experience of managing their own workload.
