Offer Description
The Institute of Philosophy Zagreb invites applications for one Research Associate position in the field of Humanities, discipline Philosophy, at its Department of Theoretical Philosophy.
The successful candidate will be employed on a permanent basis, subject to periodic re-election or appointment to a higher research position.
The successful candidate will work on one of the following research projects conducted at the Department of Theoretical Philosophy:
- Intentionality and Modes of Existence;
- Feminist Philosophy of Formal Logic;
- Anti-Psychologist Conceptions of Logic and Their Reception in Croatian Philosophy.

Skills/Qualifications
Applicants must meet the general eligibility requirements prescribed by the Croatian Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette 119/2022), the National University, Scientific and Artistic Criteria (Official Gazette 42/2026), and the additional criteria for appointment to research positions prescribed by the Institute of Philosophy.
Applicants must satisfy the general and vertical criteria applicable to appointment to the position of Research Associate. At the applicant’s request, the relevant provisions of Annex I to the National University, Scientific and Artistic Criteria may be applied instead of Part Two, Chapters II and III, in accordance with the National Criteria
Specific Requirements
Applications for the Research Associate position must include the following documents:
- a curriculum vitae, including a description of the applicant’s previous research activities;
- a list of published scientific works;
- proof of the award of a doctoral degree (a copy of the doctoral diploma);
- evidence of meeting the National University, Scientific and Artistic Criteria applicable to appointment to the position of Research Associate, or, at the applicant’s request, evidence pursuant to the applicable provisions of Annex I to the National Criteria;
- a record demonstrating fulfilment of the additional criteria for appointment to research positions at the Institute of Philosophy;
- full texts of all published or accepted-for-publication peer-reviewed scientific works listed in the applicant’s publication list, or links to publicly available full texts. Among these works, applicants must specifically identify at least three representative works published or accepted for publication within the last five years;
- a motivation letter; and
- a five-year work plan, including a plan for research in Croatian philosophy.
Evidence of meeting the National Criteria must include an overview of the criteria fulfilled by the applicant together with the relevant supporting documentation and, where applicable, co-author declarations and confirmation that a work has been accepted for publication. Where the vertical criteria set out in Part Two, Chapter III of the National Criteria are applied, the appropriate library certificate referred to in Article 9 of the National Criteria must also be submitted.
The record demonstrating fulfilment of the Institute’s additional criteria must provide a detailed list of the requirements fulfilled under Articles 8, 13 and 14 of the Institute’s Regulations on Additional Criteria for Appointment to Research Positions.
For the purpose of clarifying information contained in documentation submitted within the application deadline, the selection committee may request additional explanations or supporting documents from applicants.

Selection process
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview with the selection committee. They will also be required to give a presentation of up to 30 minutes before the Scientific Council of the Institute of Philosophy on a topic related to their current research and to present their proposed work plan for the appointment period.
All application documents must be submitted exclusively in electronic form, with the subject line “Application for the Research Associate position.”
Incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

The successful candidate will be employed subject to a six-month probationary period.
