The Salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The School of Nursing is looking to hire five (5) full-time Research Associates to work for a study (pending NIH funding) testing the impact of a sleep intervention with adolescents in NYC high schools. Most of the duties will occur in-person at the office or high schools in and around NYC, including the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, requiring travel between/to these sites; occasional night/weekend work is required to follow-up with study participants and/or complete participant interviews. A Bachelor’s degree is required. We are looking for individuals with a background in psychology, public health, nursing or other related fields. Experience working with youth is required. This experience will ideally include facilitating groups or working one-on-one with adolescents.

Responsibilities

Specific tasks for this position entail:

  • Screening and recruiting adolescents and their caregivers
  • Delivering intervention group sessions with adolescents
  • Interviewing students in person and/or by phone or Zoom, and their caregivers by phone or Zoom;
  • Conducting literature searches;
  • Photocopying study materials;
  • Entering data, and
  • Other tasks as needed.

Opportunities to assist on manuscripts and presentations/posters are also available.

This is a grant funded position and continued employment is contingent upon the grant.

We anticipate a June start date.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents required
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to make a 2-year commitment
  • Ability to present information to groups of adolescents (i.e., make classroom presentations)
  • Must be able to travel between Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx, which may expand to other boroughs
  • Ability to work in the schools during the high school day, which is typically 8 – 3
  • Ability to work some nights/weekends to follow up with adolescents and/or interview parents

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, public health, or related field
  • Prior research experience is a plus
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
