Research Associate

The Ohio State University invites applications for two full-time Research Associate positions in Dr. Christina Dyars lab. The overarching goal of Dr. Dyars lab is to advance our understanding of psychological mechanisms through which different types of stigma-related stressors (e.g., discrimination, microaggressions) impact mental health and substance use among LGBTQ+ individuals.

Research Associates will contribute to conducting two NIH-funded studies. The first (R01 MH138335) examines risk factors for depression and suicidal ideation among bisexual adolescents and young adults, and the second (R01 DA058642) focuses on risk factors for cannabis use and the development of cannabis use disorder. This will include managing the day-to-day operations of the study, including preparing and managing IRB submissions, online participant recruitment (e.g., creating and distributing advertisements, monitoring recruitment channels, reviewing screener data), programming surveys, corresponding with participants (e.g., responding to emails and texts), paying participants, and assisting with other project-related tasks as needed. Research Associates will also have opportunities to contribute to manuscripts and conference presentations using data from this and other studies, including potentially leading manuscripts. This type of experience can be helpful in preparing to apply for graduate programs in a range of social science and health fields, including psychology and public health.
