Offer Description
The application must include the following:
- signed application for the competition
- curriculum vitae
- proof of having obtained a PhD in the field of psychology
- proof of registration in the Register of Scientists and Artists
- list of published scientific papers recorded in the Croatian Scientific Bibliography
- proof of the citation record and indexing of papers in relevant databases
- the decision on election to the scientific title of Research Associate in the required scientific area and field, if the candidate holds such a decision, or, if not, all papers required for election to the post submitted in a separate (PDF) document
- confirmation of participation in scientific research projects (project title, project leader, host institution, project duration)
- proof of fulfilment of the requirements for the post in accordance with the Institute's Ordinance on Election to Scientific Posts (separate proof for each requirement)
- Evidence of knowledge of the required research methods and statistical analyses (certificates, published papers, diplomas, etc.)
- proof of international collaboration and mobility
- list of presentations at scientific conferences
- evidence of excellent command of English (certificates, papers published in English, diplomas, etc.)
- electronic record of the data registered in the central registry of the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute – HZMO register (electronic employment record), if applicable

Requirements:
- Obtained a PhD degree in the scientific field of psychology
- Registration in the Register of Scientists and Artists maintained by the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth of the Republic of Croatia
- Fulfilled requirements prescribed by the National University, Scientific and Artistic Criteria (Official Gazette No. 42/26) (hereinafter: the National Criteria) for appointment to the relevant scientific position of Research Associate
- the requirements prescribed by the relevant institute's ordinance on election to scientific posts for the scientific post advertised in this call (https://www.pilar.hr/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Pravilnik_ZRM_2015-17.pdf)
- published scientific papers in the field of psychology, especially in the areas of family and marital relationships, parenting, and the well-being of children and youth
- excellent knowledge of quantitative methodology in psychological research and longitudinal and psychometric analyses, including the analysis of multilevel data
- participation in scientific conferences with presentations in the field of psychology, especially in the areas of family and marital relationships, parenting, and the well-being of children and youth
- well-developed communication and presentation skills (in Croatian and English), a strong work ethic, organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- excellent command of Croatian and English, both spoken and written
- excellent computer skills, particularly in the use of data analysis software for longitudinal data such as R or Mplus
Specific Requirements
Additional criteria (considered an advantage in the selection process):
- preference will be given to candidates with experience of working on highly competitive scientific research projects (e.g. Croatian Science Foundation) particularly those focusing on the well-being of parents, children, and youth
- preference will be given to candidates with well-developed international collaboration and a proven record of scientific mobility
- preference will be given to candidates with scientific expertise in the well-being of parents, children, and youth, as well as experience in research on developmental changes.

Eligibility criteria
The competition is open to persons of both sexes.
Applicants who wish the provisions of Annex I to the National Criteria to be applied to their selection pursuant to Article 98 of the National Criteria are required to indicate this in their application.
Applicants who, pursuant to special regulations, are entitled to priority in employment and who have priority over other candidates only under equal conditions must invoke this right in their application for the public competition. Candidates who invoke this right in their application are required to submit the relevant documents as proof of their status, as well as other supporting documents in accordance with the special law regulating this right. Candidates who are entitled to priority in employment pursuant to the Act on Croatian Homeland War Veterans and Members of Their Families (Official Gazette Nos. 121/17, 98/19, 84/21 and 156/23) and the Act on Civilian Victims of the Homeland War (Official Gazette No. 84/21) are required to invoke this right in their application, explicitly stating the relevant legal provision and article. In addition to the evidence demonstrating that they meet the required conditions, they must also submit all the necessary supporting documents available at the following link of the Ministry of Croatian Veterans: https://branitelji.gov.hr/zaposljavanje-843/843. They have priority over other candidates only under equal conditions.
Selection process
By submitting an application for the position, the applicant is deemed to have given consent to the collection and processing of the personal data provided in the application and accompanying documentation for the purpose of conducting the recruitment procedure.
An application shall be considered complete if it contains all the information and supporting documents specified in the call for applications. Incomplete and late applications will not be considered.
Interviews with candidates will be conducted in the event that several candidates meet the same or similar requirements. Candidates will be notified of the interview date and time by electronic means.
Applications accompanied by the required supporting documents must be submitted within 30 days of the publication of the call for applications in the Narodne novine (Official Gazette of the Republic of Croatia), exclusively by email to: natjecaj@pilar.hr.
The subject line of the email must state: "natječaj znanstveni suradnik – psihologija" ("Call for Applications – Research Associate – Psychology").
Applicants will be informed of the results of the recruitment procedure via the Institute's website: https://www.pilar.hr/natjecaji. Candidates will not be notified individually. Publication of the notice of the recruitment results on the Institute's website shall be deemed to constitute notification of all candidates of the outcome of the recruitment procedure.
