Research Associate
We are seeking a highly motivated Researcher to conduct independent research focused on host-pathogen interactions between corn and corn-infecting viruses. This role involves advanced molecular biology techniques, data analysis, and collaborative research aimed at understanding plant-virus dynamics and contributing to functional genomics.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute independent research experiments investigating corn-virus interactions.
- Analyze transcriptomic data to identify gene expression patterns.
- Apply proteomic techniques such as co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) and bi-molecular fluorescence complementation (BiFC) to study protein interactions and pathways.
- Perform microscopy to track pathogen movement within plant tissues.
- Utilize molecular tools including CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing and virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) for functional genomics research.
- Conduct statistical analyses, evaluate and interpret experimental data.
- Prepare manuscripts, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and present research at scientific meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in Plant Biology, Molecular Biology, Virology, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with transcriptomic and proteomic techniques.
- Proficiency in molecular biology methods such as CRISPR/Cas9 and VIGS.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including scientific writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant discipline.
- Experience with advanced microscopy techniques.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools for transcriptomic analysis.
- Demonstrated record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
