Description:

Manages a variety of research contracting activities to include but not limited to reviewing, drafting, negotiation and tracking funded and non-funded federal, non-profit and industry agreements in accordance with UH policies and

1. In conjunction with the Director of Research Administrative Services and the Office of the General Counsel, ensures that institutional policies and procedures are followed to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulatory guidelines.
2. Serves as subject matter expert (SME) to interpret contract language, terms, conditions, and requirements to faculty and the research community, as needed, to clarify individual or institutional obligations, contractual risks, and challenging terms or provisions.
3. Assesses, implements, and continuously monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to include but not limited to, contract volumes, contract receipt, negotiation and execution timelines, to ensure workload is balances among team members.
4. Collaborates with the Office of Technology Transfer and Innovation regarding IP related matters as required.
5. Responds to inquiries in a timely and customer focused manner.
6. Performs other job-related duties as required.

MQ:

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Preferred: Master's Degree. Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.

Prior legal or paralegal experience preferred.
