Your next career opportunity

You will coordinate and grow a diverse research portfolio supporting Professor Sharon Lewin’s globally recognised infectious diseases program.

You will leverage biomedical expertise to drive funding success, streamline projects and enable major international collaborations.

What you will deliver:

  • Manage end-to-end portfolio of grants, contracts and budgets for Professor Lewin’s research team of around 25 staff.
  • Coordinate preparation and submission of Australian and international funding applications, including complex multi-partner and collaborative proposals.
  • Oversee project start-up, reporting and compliance, ensuring milestones, ethics, contracts and expenditures align with funder and University requirements.
  • Provide strategic advice, tools and training to Department of Infectious Diseases researchers on processes, systems and funding opportunities.
  • Support departmental operations through high-level administrative coordination, stakeholder liaison and organisation of key meetings and planning activities.

You may be a great fit if:

  • Hold a PhD in biomedical science or related health field.
  • Demonstrate extensive experience preparing competitive grant applications to Australian funders, including NHMRC, ARC and philanthropic schemes.
  • Manage complex research projects or programmes, with strong skills in budgeting, financial tracking, reporting and compliance.
  • Navigate University of Melbourne systems and processes, including Workday, Cayuse and major grant submission portals.
  • Excel at prioritising multiple deadlines in fast-paced research environments while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Collaborate confidently with researchers, clinicians and partners across disciplines, institutions and countries to progress shared research goals.
