The Forum is a multi-stakeholder initiative focused on advancing the regulatory sciences for the treatment of NAFLD/NASH, PSC, liver fibrosis, HBV, HIV, TAVI, and Ocular Diseases. The Forum brings together experts in transplantation medicine, infectious diseases, virology, immunology, and diagnostics from academia, regulatory agencies, industry, and professional societies to discuss, deliberate, and generate consensus on issues such as disease definitions, standardization of diagnostic approaches, and clinical trial design.

This position will assist with all statistical analysis aspects of research projects under the The Forum for Collaborative Research's Data & Analysis Center (Forum's D&A Center) at the University of California Berkeley (UCB) School of Public Health (SPH). The Center provides a curated repository of clinical data and an innovative set of analytical tools to facilitate answering critical questions of drug safety and efficacy in novel cost-effective ways that will reduce time and cost of drug evaluation while maintaining or enhancing the scientific basis of that evaluation. The Center also works to translate and disseminate new knowledge through convening opportunities to discuss 'Innovation in Data Use and Analysis' for Forum stakeholders including, academia, regulatory agencies, industry, patient organizations, and professional societies to share lessons learned and provide opportunities for cross-comparison of analytic approaches and a framework for training in novel analytic approaches in a disease specific context.

Responsibilities

  • Plans long-term statistical studies, including the preparation of proposals, design of survey instruments and determining sampling procedures.
  • Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes the collection of information and data; recommends statistical approaches, trends, sources and uses.
  • Write and edit manuscripts at various stages of development and prepares data for presentation at Forum meetings or scientific conferences worldwide.
  • Interprets analyses results using a variety of statistical techniques that may require simple data aggregation via statistical analysis or more complex statistical analysis.
  • Clean and analyze data collected from clinical trials. This will include preparing and running code for data cleaning and analysis. Program in SAS or Python.
  • Collaborates with Forum stakeholders and with other campus units including Berkeley Research IT to ensure data quality and regulatory compliance pertaining to acceptance of studies that may utilize Forum's data from pooled completed phase 2 and 3 clinical studies.
  • Manages several large databases of clinical research data to answer key scientific questions.
  • Collaborates with other Forum staff reviews new software instruments and potential effects on statistical testing.
  • Participates in development and implementation of data security policies and procedures.
  • Maintains records to ensure compliance with clinical data collection, compliance reports, database maintenance, and analyses requests from sponsors and regulators.
  • Keeps abreast of technical advances in storage, documentation and dissemination of clinical data.
  • May supervise data entry, database management, and research analysis of students, support Forum staff and other statisticians that collaborate on Forum projects.
  • Participates in workshops, training, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of research function.
  • Thorough skills associated with statistical analysis and systems programming.
  • Thorough skills in analysis and consultation.
  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Skills in project management.
  • Research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

The budgeted annual salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $95,000.00 - $107,650.00. This is an exempt monthly-paid position.
