Research Development Facilitator
The Research Office welcomes applications for two (2) Research Development Facilitators to join the Research Development (pre-award) Teams and work with research-focussed staff.

As a member of the Research Office team, you will work alongside other Research Development posts and Research Operations staff to provide specialist advice and support to academics and Departmental Grants Administrators relating to research grant applications. You will be actively involved in preparing, submitting and approving applications to external funding agencies, helping to deliver a seamless and integrated service.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a clear understanding of the research grant lifecycle and will ideally have directly relevant experience of providing professional support across a complex research landscape.
The Research Development Facilitator plays a central, proactive role in supporting the development and submission of research funding applications across the University. Working within the Research Office, the post-holder partners closely with academics and departments to shape high-quality grant proposals helping to interpret funder requirements, structure applications, ensure eligibility and coordinate timely submission. They also provide expert advice on costing and pricing, ensuring that proposals are financially robust and aligned with university and funder policies. The post-holder maintains strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including academics, research staff, funders, and collaborators. They are expected to develop and maintain expert knowledge of funding landscapes, policies and costing principles, enabling them to provide informed advice and share best practice. Additionally, they contribute to training and development activities, support research strategy planning and help disseminate funding opportunities across the University
Key skills and attributes required for this role include strong numerical as well as attention to detail. Excellent organisational skills, along with the abilities to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels and to build networks and effective working relationships, are essential for the role. You will be educated to degree level or with equivalent level of knowledge and experience. Previous project management experience is desirable.
