UCLouvain is recruiting a research engineer in computer vision for the LaaS (Laundry as a Service) research project. The position is based in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, and is available immediately for a one-year, non-renewable fixed-term contract.
As a member of the scientific staff of the INGI team within the ICTEAM Institute, you will work closely with the project's researchers and industrial partners to design, implement and evaluate computer vision algorithms for robotic garment handling.
Main responsibilities
- Develop segmentation algorithms for highly deformable objects, including tangled garments and piles of clothing.
- Identify suitable grasping points to guide robotic manipulation.
- Design, implement and test computer vision solutions in collaboration with the project's researchers and industrial partners.
- Collaborate closely with industrial partners based in Liège. A working knowledge of French is mandatory.
Candidate profile
- A Master's degree (120 ECTS) in computer science, computer vision, software engineering or a closely related field. Candidates holding a PhD in a relevant field are also welcome to apply.
- Experience in computer vision and proficiency in C++ and/or deep learning methods.
- Experience in an industrial environment is highly appreciated.
- Applicants must be EU citizens or already hold a valid permit authorising them to work in Belgium.
Employment conditions
- Location: Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
- Start date: as soon as possible.
- Duration: one year. The contract cannot be renewed.
