Research Engineer (Process Engineering)
Job Description
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of NUS is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our Microelectronics Research Facilities, also known as E6NanoFab hosted at the College of Design and Engineering.
As a Process Engineer, you will play a vital role in advancing our research efforts by developing, optimizing, and implementing cutting-edge processes and technologies. You will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, contribute to innovative research projects, and be at the forefront of microelectronics technology development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Development: Design, develop, and optimize microelectronics manufacturing processes, with a focus on semiconductor device fabrication and related technologies by using photolithography, etching, deposition, and other relevant techniques. Evaluate and select appropriate materials, tools, and equipment for process development.
- Process Optimization: Continuously improve existing processes to enhance efficiency, yield, and performance. Identify and address bottlenecks, defects, and inefficiencies in the production process.
- Experimental Design and Testing: Plan and execute experiments to validate and refine new process methodologies. Collect and analyze data to assess process performance and reliability.
- Equipment Management: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and calibration of specialized equipment and tools used in microelectronics processing. Ensure equipment availability and compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with researchers, engineers, and scientists to define project goals, troubleshoot technical issues, and integrate process solutions into research projects. Foster a collaborative environment to facilitate knowledge sharing and innovation.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of experiments, processes, and results. Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure processes adhere to quality standards, industry regulations, and safety protocols. Implement and document process controls to maintain consistent product quality.
- Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior engineers, researchers, and technicians to develop their skills in microelectronics process engineering.
- Innovation and Research Support: Stay updated on the latest advancements in microelectronics and semiconductor manufacturing. Contribute to the development of research proposals, leveraging your process expertise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or fresh Master's graduate in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a strong emphasis on microelectronics and semiconductor processing.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and optimizing microelectronics manufacturing processes, including photolithography, etching, deposition, and other relevant techniques.
- Working experience in foundries, microelectronics research centers and pilot line will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with cleanroom protocols, safety standards, and equipment operation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced research environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and data interpretation techniques.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance in all processes.
