Research Fellow (Advanced catalysts and MEA for Hydrogen Production)
Job Description
- Synthesize nanostructured catalysts and support materials for hydrogen evolution and oxygen evolution reactions (HER/OER).
- Fabricate ultrathin, lightweight ceramic-polymer composite membranes for high-performance Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) and Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers.
- Design and integrate 3D porous electrode architectures to enhance gas diffusion and mass transport in water-splitting systems.
- Synthesize and characterize transition metal- bimetallic or alloyed electrocatalysts for alkaline and acidic hydrogen production.
- Develop and test freestanding ionomer membranes and catalyst-coated substrates for electrolytic hydrogen generation.
- Assemble and evaluate single-cell electrolyzer and fuel cell prototypes, including membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) optimization.
- Perform electrochemical analysis (LSV, EIS, Tafel, CV) to assess catalyst activity, stability, and efficiency under varying operating conditions.
- Machine learning optimisation for catalysis and failure analysis
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in the area of mechanical engineering or materials science
- Experience in fabrication of fuel cells and electrolyzers
- In-depth knowledge in electrochemistry, electrochemical techniques (CV, LSV, EIS etc), and polymer membranes.
- Experience in synthesis nanomaterials and nanocomposites for catalyst.
- Experiencce in handling analytical instruments (e.g. FESEM, XRD, TGA, Viscometer etc.)
- Strong publication records in electrochemistry
