Job Summary
We are looking for a research fellow to work on advanced manufacturing of high temperature alloys, such as nickel based superalloys, stainless steels and refractory alloys that can withstand the challenging environments of ultra-high heat profile and mechanical loading. This project’s broad aim is successful manufacturing of the high temperature superalloy structures, conducting mechanical and microscopic characterisation of properties and rationalising their behaviour using modelling techniques for future lightweight aerospace applications.
The successful candidate should have expertise in advanced manufacturing (powder bed fusion/electron beam melting/sintering), physical metallurgy or advanced characterisation (microscopic or mechanical). The post holder will carry out research and manufacturing process evaluation to produce structural metallic materials.
