Job Description

Research Fellow (postdoc) positions in the Department of Chemical and Bimolecular Engineering (ChBE) at National University of Singapore (NUS). The primary objective of this position is to develop artificial intelligence–enabled synthesis and inverse design strategies to achieve atomic-level control over the structure and properties of ligand-protected metal nanoclusters and related functional nanomaterials. The candidate will work on building integrated computational–experimental platforms that combine advanced machine learning algorithms and data-efficient generative models for nanocluster discovery.

The research fellow is expected to contribute to the supervision and mentoring of undergraduate students, graduate students, and visiting scholars. The fellow will also assist in the preparation of large-scale research proposals, the dissemination of research outcomes, and the establishment and sharing of computational and experimental research infrastructure within NUS.

Job Requirements

Applicants must hold a PhD in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a closely related discipline. A strong background in nanomaterial synthesis, or computational modelling of nanomaterials is required. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with machine learning, data-driven modelling, or computational materials science are essential.

The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong publication record, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work effectively in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment.
