Research Fellow (AI in Structural Engineering)
Job Description
The National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for a postdoctoral Research Fellow position in artificial intelligence and structural engineering. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of Asst Prof Meng Xin from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. This position is part of an exciting research programme aimed at developing generative AI tools to assist structural steel design.
The Research Fellow is expected to:
- Conduct novel and impactful research in the areas of structural engineering and AI.
- Implement the latest advances in generative AI for structural steel design and address key challenges (e.g. accuracy and reliability).
- Disseminate research findings through high-quality journal papers and presentations at international conferences.
- Support the supervision and mentoring of PhD students.
- Contribute to teaching, funding applications, and outreach activities.
Job Requirements
- Possess a PhD in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
- A strong portfolio of research and publications related to structural engineering and AI.
- Expertise in structural design, AI and programming.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Prior research experience in generative AI (e.g. large language models).
- Prior research experience in combining AI and structural engineering.
- Open to fixed-term contract
