Research Fellow, Audio AI (School of Computing)

Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Research Fellow in the Department of Computer Science, School of Computing (SoC). SoC is strongly committed to research excellence in all its dimensions: Searching for fundamental results and insights in developing novel computational solutions to a wide range of applications, building largescale experimental systems, developing theories and policies for effective management of information systems in organizations, and improving the well-being of society. We seek to play an active role both internationally and locally in the core and emerging areas of Computer Science and Information Systems.

Augmented Human Lab, at the Department of Computer Science, National University of Singapore is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in audio AI models to be deployed on the edge device to build a drone audition system. The Research Fellow will be responsible for working closely with the Principal Investigator and a Senior Research Fellow. He/She will work on designing drone noise suppression and audio event classification models to be deployed on-device. This will enable a drone operator with audio perception in addition to visual perception to make faster and more accurate decisions in urban search-and-rescue.

Major responsibilities include:

  1. Conduct original, impactful research leading the Blind Drone project, including model design, development, and deployment.
  2. Closely collaborate with the French counterpart to build and deploy the system.
  3. Provide guidance to PhD students, Research Engineers in the group.
  4. Dissemination of the research outcomes via Journal/Conference papers and contribute to research grant proposals.
  5. Participate in project meetings as well as industrial/academic events.

The initial term of appointment will be 1-year and renewable based on performance. The selected candidate will be offered competitive salaries and benefits.
