Research Fellow (Decarbonization)

Job Description

A Research Fellow position is available in the research group of Professor Ho Ghim Wei at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Materials Science Engineering National University of Singapore (NUS).
We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join an active research programme in advanced functional materials for sustainable energy and environmental applications. The successful candidate will work on the design, synthesis, and characterisation of nanostructured materials, with a focus on photocatalytic and related catalytic processes for energy conversion and environmental remediation.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Conduct independent and collaborative research on functional nanomaterials for energy conversion and environmental applications.
• Build and operate laboratory-scale reaction systems for catalytic performance evaluation.
• Investigate photocatalytic and related processes such as CO₂ reduction, hydrogen or peroxide generation, and pollutant degradation.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including materials scientists, chemists, and electronic engineers.
• Publish high-quality journal papers and meet grant deliverables.
• Perform routine laboratory duties.
• Assist with other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by their immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

• PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong background in nanomaterials synthesis and characterisation.
• Experience with photocatalysis, catalysis, or energy/environmental materials research.
• Proven ability to conduct independent research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Open to Fixed Term Contract.
