We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Fellow to join our dynamic Neurosurgery team at UC. This position offers an exceptional opportunity for individuals interested in advancing their career in research within the field of neurosurgery in translational, skull base, and neuro-oncology research. The Research Fellow will work closely with leading neurosurgeons and researchers to conduct innovative research projects aimed at improving patient outcomes and advancing surgical techniques.
Essential Functions
- Research Design and Implementation: Collaborate with the research team to design, develop, and implement research protocols related to neurosurgery. This includes formulating research questions, designing study methodologies, and ensuring adherence to ethical guidelines.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and manage data from patient records, surgical procedures, and follow-up assessments. Perform statistical analyses and interpret results to draw meaningful conclusions.
- Literature Review: Conduct comprehensive reviews of existing literature to support research hypotheses and contextualize study findings within the current scientific landscape.
- Publication and Presentation: Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences. Assist in the preparation of grant applications and research proposals.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with neurosurgeons, other staff, and research fellows. Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to interdisciplinary discussions to enhance research outcomes.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with institutional, local, and national regulations governing research. Maintain meticulous records of research activities and ensure data integrity and confidentiality.

Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- Education: MD, PhD, or MD/PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Neurosurgery, Neurology, Biomedical Sciences).
- Experience: Prior experience in research, preferably in neurosurgery or a related field. Familiarity with research methodologies, data analysis, and trials is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, or SAS) and familiarity with research databases. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Personal Attributes: High level of motivation, attention to detail, and a commitment to advancing the field of neurosurgery through rigorous research. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
