Job Description

We are looking for a Research Fellow (RF) to join the team and explore the physics of engineered light-matter interaction in bosonic cQED systems. We are a diverse team of scientists doing small-scale, curiosity-driven experiments to better understand the rich nonlinear dynamics when light, in the forms of our engineered superconducting cavities, interacts with artificial atoms based on Josephson junctions. Our research has the potential to bring new insights to fundamental concepts in quantum physics as well as useful applications to continuous-variable quantum information processing.

As an RF in the team, you will

  • Work with a multidisciplinary team with lots of freedom to propose, shape, and lead new investigations under the general research themes in the group;
  • Work closely with other team members and collaborators to develop new directions of research;
  • Mentor young students and take part in organisational discussions, which are great preparation for future independent scientific careers;
  • Contribute to co-creating an inclusive and supportive team culture

Qualifications

  • PhD in experimental physics in a related field (quantum optics, cavity QED, circuit QED, AMO physics, quantum device engineering, etc);
  • Strong track record in carrying out both independent research and collaborative projects;
  • Effective communication on both scientific and non-technical matters;
  • Some experience in sample preparation and device engineering techniques (e.g. photo- and ebeam-lithography) preferred.
