Your next career opportunity
As a Research Fellow in Epidemiology, you will lead epidemiological studies and contribute to two investigator-led clinical trials: STRAP and ISAAC at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. You will have the opportunity to design innovative research projects, manage complex datasets, and collaborate with leading researchers and clinicians. Your role will enable you to develop funding applications, prepare ethics submissions, and contribute to publications that advance our understanding of infectious diseases.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead Epidemiological Research: Design and undertake epidemiological studies using routinely collected data, managing research projects from conception through to completion.
  • Support Clinical Trials: Contribute to investigator-led clinical trials by developing grant applications, study protocols, and ethics applications, along with operational trial management.
  • Manage Data and Analysis: Clean, analyse and interpret complex datasets in collaboration with statisticians, ensuring rigorous and accurate research outcomes.
  • Engage Stakeholders and Disseminate Findings: Liaise with diverse stakeholders including clinicians, health departments and data custodians; lead publications and presentations of research findings.
You may be a great fit if:
You are an experienced epidemiologist with a Master's or PhD-level qualification, demonstrating strong project management skills, proficiency with large and linked datasets, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver high-quality research outcomes.
You may also:
  • Have experience designing and managing infectious disease research projects independently.
  • Possess expertise in working with large, complex and linked datasets.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences.
  • Show a commitment to collaborative teamwork and the ability to meet agreed deadlines consistently.
  • Have experience preparing human research ethics committee applications and submissions.
