Research Fellow in Pure Mathematics
Your next career opportunity
In this research-only role, you will join the ARC Discovery Project on 4-manifold topology. Work closely with Dr Arunima Ray on embedded surfaces and exotic smooth structures in four-dimensional manifolds.
You will deepen your expertise, build an independent research programme and contribute to high-impact publications.
What you will deliver:
- Lead and contribute to research on 4-dimensional manifolds within the ARC Discovery Project team.
- Develop an independent research programme, producing high-quality publications in leading international journals.
- Present research at seminars and conferences, and help prepare competitive grant and fellowship applications.
- Co-supervise and mentor undergraduate research students and contribute to broader research training activities.
- Support School service, outreach, and diversity and inclusion initiatives, including events and public engagement.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Hold a completed, or near-complete, PhD in topology or a closely related discipline.
- Bring demonstrated research experience in topology, ideally in low-dimensional or geometric topology.
- Maintain a strong, emerging publication record aligned with career stage and opportunities.
- Demonstrate skill in preparing research reports, manuscripts and, ideally, competitive funding applications.
- Collaborate effectively within diverse research teams and engage productively with external partners and stakeholders.
- Show proven ability to manage projects independently, meet deadlines and support student supervision
