Offer Description
A call is open for the award of one Research Fellowship (BI) for a holder of a Bachelor's degree enrolled in a Master's programme or Integrated Master's programme, within the framework of the funding awarded to the Centre for Geographical Studies (CEG) (Reference UID/295/2025 - funding awarded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT, I.P.)).
The successful candidate will contribute to the scientific enhancement, preservation, organisation and dissemination of the collections of the Library, Map Collection and Photo Archive of the Centre for Geographical Studies. The fellowship will support activities related to scientific documentation, heritage preservation, digital accessibility, collection management and dissemination of scientific knowledge in the field of Geography.

Benefits
The monthly maintenance allowance amounts to €1,090.98, in accordance with the FCT fellowship grant table currently in force in Portugal. The fellowship also includes personal accident insurance and voluntary social security contributions, in accordance with the applicable legislation.

The Selection Committee may invite the three highest-ranked candidates for an interview. If interviews are conducted:
Interview: 30%
First-stage evaluation: 70% of the final score.
The Selection Committee may decide not to award the fellowship if no candidate matches the required profile.

Project Overview
The Library, Map Collection and Photo Archive of the Centre for Geographical Studies (CEG) support research activities through the management, organisation, accessibility and dissemination of scientific and documentary information in the field of Geography.
The project aims to contribute to the description, preservation, scientific contextualisation, enhancement and dissemination of these collections, reinforcing both their physical and digital accessibility and promoting their use by the scientific community.
Work Plan
The selected fellow will be responsible for:
- Supporting the identification, inventory and characterisation of documentary collections;
- Contributing to the scientific contextualisation of archival and documentary collections;
- Assisting in digitisation and preservation procedures for documentary holdings;
- Supporting the organisation and dissemination of collection information through catalogues, databases, repositories, web pages and other information systems;
- Participating in outreach and scientific dissemination activities related to the collections.
Host Institution and Workplace
The work will be carried out on-site at the Centre for Geographical Studies (CEG), Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning (IGOT), University of Lisbon, under the scientific supervision of Professor Francisco Roque de Oliveira.
Fellowship Duration
The fellowship will last 6 months, starting in November 2026, under an exclusive dedication regime and may eventually be renewed.
Results Notification
Final results will be communicated by email to the address provided by applicants. Unsuccessful applicants may exercise their right to a prior hearing within 10 working days under the terms of the Portuguese Administrative Procedure Code. The selected candidate must formally accept the fellowship in writing. If the selected candidate declines, the fellowship may be offered to the next candidate in the final ranking.
