Research Fellow (Optical Design)
The Continental-NTU Corp Lab is a strategic research collaboration between NTU and Continental, focusing on developing technically advanced solutions in the areas such as sustainable materials engineering, artificial intelligence, advanced communications and cybersecurity capabilities for future urban mobility applications. We aim to develop innovative solutions that can be commercialized into products and services for Continental through close collaboration with its business units.
We are looking for a Research Fellow to support the development of optical systems, with specific emphasis on metasurface-based technologies for various automotive applications, including Head up Display, Near-Eye Display, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and test optical systems for metasurface-based HUDs, Near-Eye Displays, VR, and AR applications
- Conduct research and development to advance the state-of-the-art in optical projection systems, including:
- Investigating novel optical materials and technologies
- Developing and optimizing optical system designs using simulation tools
- Characterizing and testing optical system performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optical systems with other technologies, including electronics, software, and mechanical systems
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design reports, test plans, and technical papers
- Participate in project meetings and present research findings to stakeholders
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in optical projection systems
- Prepare high-quality research publications and contribute to report and technological disclosures writing.
Job Requirements:
- PhD degree in the areas of Optical Engineering and/or Photonics devices and System.
- Knowledge and/or experience in using optical simulation tools such as Zemax, CodeV etc.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and also in a team environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Entry level candidates with relevant backgrounds are also welcomed.
