Research Fellow (OR/NBD/WHY2)

Job Description

The Signature Research Programme in Neuroscience and Behavioural Disorders (NBD) is focused on understanding the structure and function of the nervous system, and the neural mechanisms underlying human neurological, psychiatric and ophthalmological disorders.

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow in Bioinformatics to join our research team that focus on neurodevelopmental disorders. The successful candidate will apply computational approaches to analyze high-throughput biological data, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics datasets. You will collaborate closely with experimental scientists to design analyses, interpret results, and contribute to publications and translational insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.
  • Perform statistical and computational analysis of multi-omics datasets.
  • Manage, curate, and integrate large-scale biological datasets.
  • Collaborate with wet-lab researchers to design experiments and interpret findings.
  • Document workflows and ensure reproducibility of analyses.
  • Present results in internal meetings and scientific publications.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

Job Requirements

  • PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Computer Science.
  • Have strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages.
  • Experience with NGS data analysis (e.g., RNA-seq, DNA-seq, single-cell sequencing)
  • Familiar with Linux/Unix environments and high-performance computing systems.
  • Have knowledge of statistical methods and data visualization techniques.
  • Experience with bioinformatics tools (e.g., GATK, Bowtie2, STAR, DESeq2)
  • Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Have strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
