About the Role

Swinburne University of Technology is seeking a motivated and collaborative Research Fellow to join our cutting-edge New Energy Technologies Research Group. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Australia’s net zero mission and Swinburne’s broader sustainability goals through innovative research in renewable energy technologies.

As a key member of the team, you will be involved in advancing applied research in areas such as power electronics, microgrid energy optimisation, wireless EV charging, PV system performance, advanced forecasting, and grid dynamics. You'll play a vital role in strengthening existing industry partnerships and helping to forge new collaborations with government and commercial stakeholders.

We are looking for someone with demonstrated expertise in renewable energy systems and a track record of working in industry or compliance-driven environments. You’ll need to be a strong team player with the ability to work independently and contribute across a range of technical, project management, and communication activities.

This position offers the chance to work at the forefront of real-world energy challenges—developing scalable solutions for emerging technologies while making a tangible impact on the future of sustainable power systems. 

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Proven experience in renewable energy technologies, with a focus on practical application and innovation.
  • Experience working in industry and/or regulatory or compliance-driven environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to complex research projects, including tracking milestones, identifying risks or barriers, and reporting on progress.
  • Experience developing and implementing large-scale optimisation and control strategies for real-world applications such as microgrids, power electronics systems, and wireless EV charging infrastructure.

Qualifications

Completion of a doctoral degree in the field of Electrical and Renewable energy technologies.
