Research Fellow (Structured Light, Integrated Photonic Devices, Information Security)
Job Description
The position is dedicated to advancing miniaturized higher-dimensional structured light platforms for information security through fundamental research and photonic device development.
Particular emphasis will be placed on compact generation, manipulation, and detection of structured light carrying multiple degrees of freedom, including orbital angular momentum, polarization, and topological textures. The research spans the complete development cycle from theoretical modeling and photonic structure design to device fabrication and optical characterization. The primary responsibilities include:
- Investigating the physical mechanisms underlying higher-dimensional structured light, elucidating the interplay among orbital angular momentum, spin angular momentum, geometric phase, and topological properties. Establish structure–property relationships governing information encoding capacity, propagation robustness, and security performance, and develop novel high-dimensional optical states and topological light fields for secure information processing.
- Advancing miniaturized photonic platforms for structured light generation and manipulation by developing metasurfaces, nanophotonic structures, and integrated optical devices. Optimize phase engineering and polarization control strategies, achieve precise tailoring of vectorial and topological light fields, and realize compact and multifunctional devices for information encryption, multiplexing, and authentication.
- Perform optical characterization and system optimization using advanced imaging and spectroscopic techniques to evaluate beam quality, topological stability, information capacity, and robustness against perturbations. Investigate propagation dynamics, mode purity, and environmental stability to enable reliable structured-light-based information security systems.
Given these research objectives, the ideal candidate should possess a background in optics, photonics, and electromagnetic theory, with solid fundamentals in wave propagation, optical physics, and nanophotonics, together with proficiency in optical characterization techniques and experimental setups.
Preference will be given to candidates with research experience in structured light, orbital angular momentum, vector beams, metasurfaces, integrated photonics, or topological photonics, as well as expertise in nanofabrication technologies and familiarity with optical communication, information encryption, and photonic device integration.
Qualifications
- Possess a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Optics, Photonics, Optical Engineering or related fields, with a solid professional background in optical physics, nanophotonics, and photonic device development.
- Have working experience and professional knowledge in structured light, optical optics, nanofabrication, optical manipulation and information security.
- Must master professional knowledge in higher-dimensional structured light, including orbital angular momentum, vector beams, and topological optical fields.
- Possess practical experience with numerical simulation software for electromagnetic and optical systems, such as Lumerical FDTD, MATLAB, or equivalent computational tools.
- Proficient in nanofabrication techniques and integrated photonic devices, with experience in two-photon lithography, electron beam lithography, and related micro- and nano-fabrication technologies.
- Have extensive experience in optical and structural characterization techniques, including optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, optical setup construction.
- Demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate in interdisciplinary teams involving photonics, nanotechnology, and information science.
- Candidates should have published a series of high-quality papers in internationally renowned journals in the fields of optics, photonics, nanophotonics, or structured light.
- Open to Fixed Term Contract.
