Job Description:
- Full time, 2 years Fixed Term opportunity
- La Trobe Melbourne (Bundoora) campus location
- Level B, Research only
- Base salary from $118,530 per annum + 17% Superannuation
About the position
The Research Fellow will conduct and publish research aligned with the Deputy Director’s research program at OTARC. This program focuses on supporting the health and wellbeing of Autistic people and individuals with childhood-onset disability across the lifespan by promoting participation in physical activity and exercise.
The role involves developing and testing physical activity models, investigating barriers to and enablers of participation, and strengthening research and clinical workforce capacity to build inclusive, supportive communities where Autistic people and people with disability can thrive. The Research Fellow will be expected to meet annual publication and research income targets consistent with a 70% research workload.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have
- Completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline and relevant experience within the discipline or professional area.
- High level knowledge about childhood-onset disability, autism and neurodevelopmental differences
- High level knowledge about physical activity and exercise
- Evidence of experience in research and evaluation and the ability to work effectively under limited supervision or independently.
- A record of contribution to publications, conference papers and/or reports, or professional or technical contributions which provide evidence of research potential.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and productively in small teams.
