Research Fellow
The Research Fellow will develop, plan and deliver research in accordance with assigned research projects attached to the research center/cluster and The Business School (TBS), either directly as project member, project leader or under the guidance of the project leader.
Working under the general direction of the Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation and Research Fellow Coordinator, the Research Fellow will be responsible for initiating and coordinating the day-to-day research activities of the projects, acting as the first point of contact for all enquiries related to the research projects, research proposal, and provide support for the school's research operation management, including developing and implementing research strategies, supervising research staff, building partnerships, managing budgets and resources, and conducting and publishing high-quality research.
Specific responsibilities will depend on the topic, nature and duration of the research projects, as provided by the Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation and Research Fellow Coordinator.
Accountabilities include:
- Conduct high quality research individually or as part of a team including: preparing and submitting external research funding applications in relevant field of research together with other research fellows and/or academic members from TBS; managing research projects within timelines and budget and ensuring compliance with quality and reporting requirements; publishing research results in high quality outlets as lead or co-author; and supervising higher degree by research candidates.
- Collaborate with academic members within TBS’s Center, Cluster/Themes for research proposal development, research design, data collection and the collation of results as a principal investigator or associate investigator. Develop and implement research strategies and plans in alignment with the University and School’s overall research objectives.
- Build and maintain partnerships with internal, and external research institutions, collaborators in the region, internationally and with government agencies to support research collaborations and funding opportunities.
- Support the Line manager and assigned reporting lines (if any) in developing and implementing research activities, procedures, research strategies and engagement.
- Manage research budgets, resources, and projects to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
- Conduct research and analysis of comprehensive literature reviews and database searches.
- Plan day-to-day research activity and/or coordinate activities with Research Fellow Coordinator, Center, Cluster/Theme leads and academic members, research partners.
Our requirements
- University Doctoral degree in Business Analytics & Technology, Digital Technology, Sciences, Management/ /Economics/Environment.
- 5+ years of experience in research position in an academic or industry institution.
- Strong experience with research project development, implementation and publishing.
- Demonstrate experience with international research proposal application and research project management (experience with successful international research grant and managing a research project is an asset).
- Research experience in primary or secondary data collection. (Ability to use Office 365, NVivo and SPSS, and advanced data science tools is desired).
- Strong ability to conduct research, analyse, interpret, evaluate, coordinate as well as report resulting information for high-quality research
- Demonstrated strong ability to work independently and as part of a team, and in liaising with people at all levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver presentations and reports. Knowledge of literature review databases.
- Well-developed planning and organizational skills with proven ability to prioritise multiple tasks set and give attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues and partners (internal and external).
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.
- Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position as per the RMIT Values
