We’re looking for a Research Fellow to join our team and help shape the future of health informatics. You will play a key role in developing and implementing geographic health data science projects, producing data-driven maps and narratives that provide clear insights into the health of communities at local and regional levels. You’ll work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, contributing to high-quality research and publications that makes a difference.

This is a full-time post (36.5 hours/week), funded until 31 July 2027, with the possibility of extension.

If you believe you meet the requirements, come and be part of this unique and exciting opportunity and contribute to our mission to improve health outcomes through research.

You’ll have:

  • A PhD or postgraduate qualification in geography, health data science, epidemiology, public health or relevant significant experience.
  • Experience of programmatic analysis of geographic information to generate publication ready maps intelligible to a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience of analysing publicly available data with geographic information and developing interactive maps, story maps and compelling place based narratives with a range of data visualisations.
  • Strong statistical analysis programming skills in R and/or R-Studio or other open source software.
  • Be able to work collaboratively and constructively.

At UCL, we believe work should fit around life – not the other way around. That’s why we offer flexible working options, including part-time roles and job-sharing opportunities wherever possible.

When you join UCL, you’ll enjoy:

  • 41 days of holiday (pro rata for part-time staff) – that’s 27 days of annual leave, 8 bank holidays, and 6 closure days
  • Cycle to work scheme – save money and stay healthy
  • Season ticket loan – making your commute more affordable
  • On-site gym – fitness made convenient
  • Employee Assistance Programme – for confidential wellbeing support when you need it
