Offer Description
A call is open for the award of 1 (one) Research Fellowship (BI) to a master's student (Reference BIOPOLIS 2026-47) funded by the project “Biodiversity Genomics Europe Plus” – BGE+, at CIBIO/Associação BIOPOLIS for the processing of Malaise trap samples and other sampling procedures. Tasks will involve sample sorting, specimen individualization, morphological identification, photographic recording, tissue sample collection for DNA barcoding, and collection, filling, and submission of metadata on the BOLD SYSTEMS platform.

Skills/Qualifications
Candidates must be enrolled in a study cycle leading to a Master's degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, or related fields. Alternatively, candidates may be enrolled in a non-degree course integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution, in the same scientific area, where legally admissible under the applicable fellowship regulations.
Academic degrees obtained in a foreign country require recognition by a competent Portuguese institution, under the terms of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, this requirement being mandatory at the time of signing the fellowship contract.
Specific Requirements:
- Experience in sample sorting;
- Experience in fieldwork, namely in setting up Malaise traps and sampling in freshwater environments;
- Experience in morphological identification of invertebrates;
- Experience in photographic recording of specimens;
- Experience in tissue sample collection for DNA barcoding;
- Experience in preparing and submitting metadata to the BOLD SYSTEMS platform;
- Fluency in English.
