Offer Description
The research program concerns the development of geometric, algebraic and numerical methods for 3D reconstruction and camera motion estimation from higher-order geometric primitives, with particular attention to conics, silhouettes and quadric surfaces. The goal is to overcome some limitations of Structure from Motion approaches based exclusively on points, which may be unstable or poorly informative in low-texture scenes, in the presence of smooth objects, or in object-based contexts.
The research will focus on:
- the theoretical formulation of multi-view constraints for quadrics and conics;
- the development of robust algorithms for pose estimation, reconstruction and self-calibration;
- implementation and validation on synthetic and real data, and comparison with point-based and object-based SfM methods.
