As a Research Finance Advisor, you'll play a crucial role in supporting cutting-edge research at the University of Melbourne. You'll manage financial aspects of various funding programs, serve as the primary contact for Chief Investigators, and contribute to process improvements. This role offers you the opportunity to develop your financial expertise while working closely with leading academics in a dynamic, high-performance environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide Financial Support and Advice: Deliver finance-related support to academic clients, including budget development for grants and contracts.
- Manage Key Relationships: Maintain relationships with Faculty stakeholders and work as a trusted advisor on research operations.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvements and system changes to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Deliver Accurate Reporting: Provide timely and accurate management reporting to Faculty stakeholders.

You may also: Hold a relevant tertiary degree in a business-related discipline or equivalent experience. Demonstrate good judgment, initiative, and the ability to work independently. Possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Have strong financial acumen and understanding of management accounting practices. Show flexibility and adaptability in an evolving work environment. Have experience in or willingness to contribute to process mapping and improvement. Demonstrate strong relationship management skills with diverse stakeholders.

Research Finance: Research Finance operates within Research, Innovation & Commercialisation's (RIC) Office of Research Management with a reporting relationship to CFOG. Research Finance enables academic research at the University by managing and maintaining externally funded research projects, providing financial support and advice to Faculties and individuals with externally funded research projects, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting and transparency to external funders.
