Uniperms is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Research Finance Assistant within the Research Finance – Post Award team at the University of Warwick. This role involves supporting a portfolio of externally funded research projects from acceptance to closure, ensuring compliance with university and funder requirements. You will submit claims and invoices by key deadlines, assist with audits, and work independently for much of the time.
We’re looking for someone with a strong customer service ethos and the ability to build effective relationships with academic departments through clear communication and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate claims and invoices for research projects.
- Advise departments and Principal Investigators on funder rules, eligibility of spend, and budget management.
- Produce financial reports using SAP and Excel; reconcile transactions and ensure compliance with funder terms.
- Maintain complete audit trails and respond to audit queries.
- Manage timesheets and salary reconciliations.
- Set up new research projects, interpret contracts, and maintain accurate data.
- Monitor and close projects promptly, archiving documentation as required.
- Provide absence cover and undertake ad hoc duties as needed.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- GCSEs (A–C) in English and Maths or equivalent.
- Working towards or qualified in AAT or part CCAB.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivots, vlookups, sumifs, conditional formatting).
- Strong numerical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage high workloads, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy.
- Flexible and quick to learn new processes.
Desirable:
- Experience in higher education or research support.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Willingness to progress to full CCAB qualification.
- Experience interpreting contractual requirements and managing budgets.
