- Remuneration: $138,193 to $156,633 pa (HEW8) (inclusive of $116,774 to $132,357 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Research Governance Officer (Export Trade Controls and DISP) to join Office of Research Ethics and Integrity, Research Portfolio, Academic Division.
The Research Governance Officer (Export Trade Controls and DISP) plays a key role in ensuring the University meets its national security, export control and research compliance obligations. Working across the Office of Research Ethics and Integrity, the position contributes to broader regulatory and reporting activities spanning human and animal ethics, research integrity and biosafety. The role leads QUT’s export control and defence security strategy, manages the University’s DISP membership, implements governance and risk frameworks aligned with the Defence and Strategic Goods List and Defence Trade Controls Act, and provides expert guidance, training and liaison with government on defence?related research activities. As a designated DISP security officer role, the position requires sole Australian citizenship and cannot be held by dual citizens.

What you need to succeed
- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications in a relevant area e.g. law, science, engineering or information security, and extensive relevant experience.
- Experience in risk management and compliance relating to research ethics and integrity, biosafety and export trade control legislation, ideally in an environment that supports research.
- Experience in a defence industry setting with knowledge of defence security concepts and experience in the provision of complex security advice within the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) framework.
- Experience in the development and implementation of compliance processes related to export trade controls and security governance in a large and complex organisation.
- Highly developed written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to form strong networks, and liaise with colleagues while maintaining confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute proactively to a high-functioning collaborative team environment with a strong client focus.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
