Research Grant – GILT – ECA Project

Offer Description

A call for applications is open for the award of one Research Grant for holders of a Bachelor's or Master's degree within the scope of the Research Unit GILT - Games, Interaction & Learning Technologies, of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP), ECA Project – Education through Alternative Communication? with reference number COMPETE2030-FEDER-00752200 - 1635, co-funded by the Innovation and Digital Transition Thematic Programme (COMPETE2030) through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Portugal 2030, under the following conditions:

1. SCIENTIFIC AREA
   International Relations, or related field
2. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
   Bachelor or Master degree´s in International Relations, or related field.
3. DURATION
   The grant will last 6 months, expected to start in november 2026, and may be renewed for equal periods, up to the limit established in the RBI-ISEP, or until the end of the project, whichever occurs first.
4. PURPOSE OF THE ACTIVITY / WORK PLAN
   The activity aims to contribute to improving the implementation and management of research processes. We will research and design research and development proposals and projects.
   Preferred qualifications: Experience in the dissemination of research projects and results; Experience in the implementation and management of research processes.
5. APPLICABLE LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS
   Research Grant Holder Statute, approved by Law no. 40/2004, of 18 August; Research Grants Regulation of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), approved by Regulation no. 950/2019, published in the 2nd series - Part C of the Diário da República, of 16 December 2019; ISEP Research Grants Regulation; Decree-Law no. 66/2018, published in Diário da República no. 157/2018, Series I, of 16 August, which approves the legal regime for the recognition of academic degrees and higher education diplomas awarded by foreign higher education institutions; and Decree-Law no. 60/2018, of 3 August, which simplifies the administrative procedures necessary for carrying out research and development activities, all in their current wording.
6. SCIENTIFIC SUPERVISION AND WORKPLACE
   The work will be carried out at ISEP, GILT – Games Interaction and Learning Technology, under the scientific supervision of Professor Paula Escudeiro, PhD
7. MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE
   Monthly scholarship amount: €1,090.98 (Bachelor’s degree) or €1,359.64 (Master’s degree), paid by bank transfer (in accordance with the FCT fee schedule: https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM-2026.pdf), covered by PAD no. C73921.
8. SELECTION METHODS AND COMPOSITION OF THE SELECTION PANEL
   Candidates will be evaluated on three equally weighted components: the final grade obtained in their higher education degree; previous experience in scientific/academic projects or professional work; and an interview with the candidate (all scored on a scale of 0 to 20).
   After the analysis of the applications and the evaluation of the candidates according to the above components, candidates will be ranked in descending order of their scores. In the event of a tie, the tie-break will be based on the highest score obtained in the interview. If the tie persists, the tie-breaking factor will be the final grade obtained in the higher education degree. If the tie still persists, the panel will hold a vote in which all panel members vote, with the Chair of the Panel having the casting vote in the event of a further tie.
   The selection panel will be composed of:
   Professor Paula Escudeiro, PhD (ISEP project leader) (Chair);
   Professor Piedade Carvalho, PhD (Member);
   Professor Nuno Filipe Escudeiro, PhD (Member),
   and as substitute member Professor Ana Barata, PhD (Substitute Member).
9. APPLICATION SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
   Applications must be submitted exclusively by email to pmo@isep.ipp.pt, including the following documents:
   • Curriculum Vitae;
   • Certificate of qualifications / Document proving the award of the academic degree and diploma, and of its recognition when awarded by foreign higher education institutions, or document proving that recognition has been requested;
   • Proof of enrolment in degree-awarding or non-degree-awarding study programmes;
   • Other supporting documents considered relevant.
   If the qualification was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of 16 August, and any formalities established therein must be completed by the time of contracting.
10. APPLICATION DEADLINE
    Applications will be accepted from 23 October to 5 November 2026.
11. PUBLICATION/NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS
    The evaluation results will be communicated by email to the email address provided in the application.
12. COMPLAINT AND APPEAL PROCEDURES
    If the result is unfavourable, candidates have a period of 10 working days after the publication of the evaluation results to submit their comments, should they wish to do so, in a prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure.
    An appeal against the final decision referred to above may be lodged with the Director of ISEP within 15 working days of the respective notification.
13. SELECTION RESERVE (OPTIONAL)
    ISEP reserves the right to contact non-selected candidates, in order of ranking, to award a grant within the same project should the initially selected candidate withdraw.

The grant holder will:

• a) Understand, analyse and integrate the group's research activities.
• b) Design and implement processes for the preparation of research and development proposals and projects
• c) Analyse, evaluate and disseminate research results.
