A tender is hereby opened for the award of one Research Grant(s) (RG) under project Y-MOVE - Youth MObility & Views for a sustainable, Equitable and resilient future project/protocol title), (25.157) of Department of Civil Engineering, CERIS Aveiro, under the following conditions:
- Scientific Area: Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
- Financing Source ECIU Seed Projects.

Experience in developing studies relating to the area of mobility is a preferred factor.. - Eligibility: Applicants are eligible if they comply with paragraph a) of no.1 of article 2, of the Research Fellow Statute in the wording given by Decree-Law no. 123/2019, of August 28th, and also the provisions of article 9 of the Scientific Research Grant Regulations of the University of Aveiro.
- Work plan: The Research Fellow will support the project team in conducting studies on current mobility patterns and future prospects for sustainable mobility among university students as part of the Y-MOVE project. Activities will include supporting the review and systematisation of the scientific literature, the preparation and organisation of research instruments and data, as well as the processing, organisation and analysis of the data collected. The Research Fellow will also contribute to the comparative analysis of the results obtained through the various methodologies employed and to the identification of trends, barriers and opportunities associated with the adoption of more sustainable mobility practices. In addition, they will support the systematisation and interpretation of the results and their dissemination within the scientific community, particularly through the preparation of presentations, conference contributions and input to scientific papers. The work undertaken will also provide an opportunity to acquire and further develop research skills, particularly in data analysis, comparative research and scientific communication, contributing to the project's objectives of generating knowledge on sustainable mobility and developing recommendations for universities and other stakeholders.
- Applicable legislation and regulations: Research Fellow Statute, as amended by Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of August 28th; Scientific Research Grant Regulation of the University of Aveiro, Regulation No. 292/2020, published in Diário da República No. 61, Series II, of March 26th; Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th (Legal regime of recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of higher education awarded by foreign higher education institutions).
- Workplace: The work will be carried out at Aveiro hub of the CERIS Research Unit / Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Aveiro of the University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Professor/Doctor Joaquim Miguel Gonçalves Macedo.
- Duration of the grant(s): The grant duration will be 3 months, starting in October of 2026, and may be renewed for additional periods of 3. months, up to the maximum limit of approved funding. Under no circumstances shall it exceed the limits defined in nos. 5 and 6 of article 9, of Regulation no. 292/2020, of February 28th, published in Diário da República, no. 61, Series II, of March 26th (Scientific Research Grant Regulation of the University of Aveiro).
- Amount of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the grant corresponds to €1.359,64, according to the table of values of monthly maintenance allowances, set out in Appendix III of the Scientific Research Grant Regulation of the University of Aveiro, subject to any updates that may occur and are applicable. The fellow may also be reimbursed for the amount corresponding to the Voluntary Social Security, in case of adherence to this plan. 3
- Selection methods: The selection methods to be used will be the following: curricular and scientific assessment (CA) and interview (INT). Based on the curricular assessment, the five candidates with the highest scores will be selected for an interview. The curricular and scientific assessment (CA) will focus on academic background (A1), the relevance of the candidate's education and experience in the field (A2), and scientific output (A3).with the respective value of 35% for criterion A1, 10% for criterion A2 and 15% for criterion A3, amounting to a total of 60% for the curricular and scientific assessment. The interview will account for 40% of each candidate's final score.
- Composition of the Selection Jury: The selection panel will comprise the following members: Chair: Assistant Professor Joaquim Miguel Gonçalves Macedo, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Aveiro; Permanent Members: Professor Margarida Isabel Cabrita Marques Coelho, Department of Environment and Planning, University of Aveiro, and Assistant Researcher Jorge Filipe Marto Bandeira, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Aveiro; Alternate Members: Associate Professor with Habilitation Carlos Daniel Borges Coelho, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Aveiro, and Assistant Professor Margarida João Fernandes de Pinho Lopes, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Aveiro .
- Deadline for applications (not be less than 10 working days) and how to submit applications: The call is open from 18-09-2026 to 01-10-2026, and only applications submitted within the deadline will be admitted.
Applications must be formalized by sending a letter of application accompanied by the following documents: Curriculum Vitae, academic qualification certificate, declaration of honour, and other supporting documents deemed relevant, such as a Motivation Letter.. They shall also indicate the e-mail address to which by such indication they accept to be notified for all purposes within this procedure.
Applications should be sent by e-mail to. jmacedo@ua.pt - Form of publication/notification of results: The results of the evaluation shall be made public no later than 60 working days after the closing date for submission of applications and shall be notified to the applicants. The candidates are informed, in a prior hearing, under the terms established in the Code of Administrative Procedure, of the probable meaning of the final decision, and may, within 10 working days of this notification, express their opinion on this decision. The final results may be appealed to the Rector, to be submitted within 10 working days from the respective notification.
- Tender duration: The final ranking list of candidates will be valid until day/month/year for the purpose of constituting a reserve list for selection.
