Offer Description
It is made known that a call for applications for the award of 2 (two) Research Grants for PhD students, within the scope of Project No. 14409, entitled “Mediprint”, funded by PT2030 (MPr-2023-7 - SIID - I&D Empresarial - Copromoção - Outros Territórios), is open under the following conditions:
- Scientific Area: Medicinal and Biopharmaceutical Chemistry
- Admission Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Medicinal and Biopharmaceutical Chemistry;

Preferred criteria:
Proven experience in the development and/or characterization of formulations for 3D printing, as well as advanced technical knowledge and demonstrated experience in the operation of equipment and in the analysis and interpretation of characterization results, namely scanning electron microscopy, rheological characterization, determination of surface tension and contact angle, as well as assessment of particle size distribution.
- Research Grant Duration: The research grant will have a duration of 4 months, with an expected start date in November 2026, on an exclusive basis. The research grant is non-renewable.
- Work Plan: The project aims to develop formulations suitable for processing using 3D printing technologies to meet the requirements of personalised therapy. The pharmaceutical properties of the developed formulations will be characterised, including dose uniformity and reproducibility of the printing process. The formulations will undergo physicochemical and microbiological stability studies to ensure their quality and stability.
- Workplace and Scientific Guidance: The work will be carried out in the laboratories of Building I, at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon (ULisboa), under the supervision of Dr. Joana Marques Marto, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of ULisboa.

Benefits
- Monthly maintenance stipend: The monthly maintenance allowance (grant) amounts to €1,359.64 and will be paid by bank transfer.
In addition to the monthly maintenance stipend, the grant holder will also receive the amount corresponding to the payment of the first level of Seguro Social Voluntário (voluntary payment of Social Security), if he/she chooses to join this scheme.

The documents supporting the application must be submitted in Portuguese or English.
No document that should have been submitted in the application phase can be submitted after the deadline set in the opening notice. Failure to comply with the deadline set for the submission of the application, as well as the lack or late submission of documents referred to in this point will determine the exclusion from the competition.
Selection process
- Evaluation and rating criteria:
Candidate's Merit: Aims to assess compliance with the formal requirements requested in the opening notice, but also to consider the suitability of the scientific area of training and/or specialization, training and professional experience, with a maximum weighting of 100%.
Adequacy of the Scientific Training Area (AACF): With a maximum weighting of 60%.
- Master’s degree in Medicinal and Biopharmaceutical Chemistry – 0 to 20 points.
Training and Experience (FE): With a maximum weighting of 20%.
- Proven experience in the development and/or characterization of formulations for 3D printing – 0 to 20 points.
Specific competencies for the proposed work plan (CEPTP): With a maximum weighting of 20%.
- Proficiency in the operation of analytical and characterization equipment and in the analysis and interpretation of characterization results, namely scanning electron microscopy, rheological characterization, determination of surface tension and contact angle, and assessment of particle size distribution – 0 to 20 points.
Final classification: The score obtained in the final classification results from the sum of the points obtained in the Candidate's Merit. An individual form will be filled for each candidate.
- Composition of the Jury: The Jury responsible for the selection of the candidates will be constituted by:

Additional comments
- Form of notification of results: All candidates will be notified of the final results of the evaluation by email and will have 10 working days after the aforementioned notification to make a statement, in accordance with the Code of Administrative Procedure.
After this notification, and in case there are no claims, the results will become final. In case of claims, and after the allegation is analysed and accepted or rejected, the results will become final after 10 working days.
After the final decision is made, a complaint/appeal can be filed to the Director of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, Maria da Graça Tavares Rebelo de Soveral Rodrigues, PhD, Full Professor, within 10 working days from the date of notification.
