Offer Description
Summary: There is an open call for one (1) Research Initiation Grant (“Bolsa de Iniciação à Investigação”) at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of project Joint-Lab-RD1.
Scientific Area: Wireless Technologies
Group: Wireless Circuits – Av
Work Objectives: It is intended to develop amplifying equipment, named Driver, to be used in laboratory setups for wireless transmission. This equipment presents a high-power gain (on a wide bandwidth, in the frequency region of units of GHz) and a high linearity, since its purpose if to adjust the signal power level at the input of high-power amplifier circuits (mounted at the Driver output), without introducing distortion to that signal. This equipment must be totally contained, being connected directly to the 220 VAC plug of the electric network installed. Thus, the design of this Driver is divided into distinct phases, each focused on different constitutive parts of the equipment. In the first phase of this work, it is intended to design, implement and test in the laboratory the part responsible for supplying all circuits of the Driver, and for generating a set of DC voltages (of high stability) which will serve to bias the transistors of the various stages that build the RF amplifier circuit. The phases to follow will focus on the remaining constitutive blocks of the Driver.
Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at Aveiro, under the supervision of Prof. Telmo Reis Cunha.
Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of renewal. This type of scholarship has a maximum duration of 1 year. Start date: November 2026 or soon thereafter.
Required Documents:
- Motivation letter explaining the interest in the position;
- Detailed Curriculum Vitae with transcripts;
- Degree certificate (if applicable);
- Proof of enrollment in a higher education course or declaration of intention to enroll in a study cycle leading to an academic degree or in a course that does not confer an academic degree. *
*NOTE: Proof of enrollment, issued by the higher education institution in a study cycle leading to the award of an academic degree or in a non-degree course, must be submitted by the time of contract signing.
