• Salary: $104,953 – $113,204 per annum, plus 17 percent Super and Leave Loading

Support the University’s research excellence by transforming complex data into actionable insights.

The Opportunity

The Research Insights Officer plays a key role in strengthening Western’s research performance by delivering high quality analysis, reporting, and insights. Working within the Research and Innovation Division, you will support the collection, curation, and interpretation of research data that informs planning, compliance, and strategic decision making.

You will collaborate closely with IT, data specialists, researchers, and government agencies to ensure data integrity, enhance reporting systems, and uplift research analytics capability. Your work will contribute to the development of dashboards, visualisations, and evidence-based outputs that help drive Western’s strategic research agenda.

This role will suit someone who enjoys working with complex datasets, engages well with diverse stakeholders, and can translate data into meaningful insights for both operational and strategic purposes.

What Success Looks Like:

• Prepare accurate research reports, including compliance and audit reporting.
• Ensure reliability, integrity, and quality of research performance data.
• Enhance research data systems through collaboration with IT and internal partners.
• Deliver improved dashboards, visualisations, and data services that support decision making. 
• Provide timely advice and support to researchers and staff on research data and metrics.

About You

• Relevant degree qualification and experience, or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
• Demonstrated capability in research data analysis, reporting, and compliance processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to explain data clearly.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. 
• Proficiency with data analysis tools and platforms, with an aptitude for continuous improvement.
