Originating in 1882 as the University of the Punjab Lahore, it was relocated in Chandigarh in the year 1947 as the East Punjab University after the partition of India, where the university was split between India and Pakistan.

Qualification and Emoluments:

• Essential qualifications: M.A/M.Sc. in Anthropology or allied subjects with minimum 55% marks for General category candidates (50% in case of SC/ST candidates). The age of candidate should be below 40 years. Knowledge of Hindi language is must. The candidate/s having fieldwork knowledge in the related subject will be given preference.
• Desirable qualifications: The candidate must be willing to conduct independent field work/data collection.

• Commitment towards work
• Have a good Publication record
