The research at the Division of Molecular Metabolism aims at understanding the regulation of mitochondrial function and the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in disease and ageing. Using patient material and different animal models, our overall aim is to get insights into disease pathophysiology and to develop novel treatments.

Your mission

We are currently looking for a Research Laboratory Manager to join the research group of Joanna Rorbach. The successful candidate will play an important role in the development and smooth running of the research group.

The duties will be varied and include:

  • facilitating paper and grant submissions, coordinating and arranging meetings.
  • handling invoices, completing expense claims.
  • assisting with public engagement: e.g., maintaining and developing websites, producing material for presentations
  • supporting laboratory organization, including ordering supplies, helping with laboratory tasks, developing techniques and protocols, and maintaining an efficient and well-organized lab space

Your profile

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate that has a genuine interest in research and research administration. We welcome applications from candidates with research experience in Biomedicine, Molecular Biology or other related field, preferably holding a Licentiate or PhD degree. Experience from work with similar duties at a University is an advantage. The successful candidate is a service-minded person with a can-do attitude who enjoys working with people and take pride in delivering work of good quality. The work requires:

  • strong organization and communication skills and a service focus
  • excellent knowledge of the English language and computer skills, including good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • good ability to plan and prioritize their work

The applicant must be able to integrate well into the international and multidisciplinary environment. Personal suitability is therefore of great importance.

The Division of Molecular Metabolism, Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics, is located at the newly built and modern laboratory Biomedicum at Solna campus of Karolinska Institutet. Our research encompasses biochemical and genetic studies of patients with inherited diseases as well as basic scientific approaches to understand the regulation of mitochondrial metabolism. Patient material (tissues and cells), genetically modified fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster) and mice (Mus musculus) are used in our studies. We offer an outstanding research environment and a close interaction between basic science and clinical science and diagnostics at the Centre for Inherited Metabolic Diseases (CMMS) at Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden.
